FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) – Two Fairbanks men have been charged with wasting game meat.
Alaska State Troopers say the son of one man killed a cow moose and the hunting party did not salvage the meat.
The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner (http://bit.ly/1j5KXQr) reports 36-year-old Michael Paul Annunziato of Fairbanks and 44-year-old William Perry Hughes of Fort Wainwright were charged for an incident Aug. 16.
A witness told investigators a member of their party shot a cow moose accompanied by a calf at Mile 37.5 Chena Hot Springs Road.
The witness said the hunters drove off without going after the moose.
A state parks ranger found two carcasses a day later. Troopers say the calf may have been killed by a bear but the cow had been shot.
Annunziato and Hughes deny shooting the moose.
